Tory MPs should apologise over vaccine diversion responses - Yorkshire Post Letters

From: Robert A Binns, Sykes Bottom, Oakworth, Keighley.

I, like a large number of your readers, get The Yorkshire Post each day for your accurate, non-partisan reporting of the news.

It was with great concern that I read your comment piece (January 23) regarding the shameful response to the story about the redirection of vaccine doses from our region, coming from Tory MPs and a government minister.

As the veracity of the report was confirmed on national radio, I hope the named MPs have the good grace to contact you and apologise for their unacceptable behaviour.

The allocation of vaccines continues to prompt much debate. The allocation of vaccines continues to prompt much debate.

They should be reminded that it is the duty of a free press to hold the executive account on behalf of the public. By their reaction, we cannot obviously trust them to uphold their constituents’ interests and insist that vaccines are not redirected away from our region when they hold such blind obedience to follow the Government.

Please do not succumb to these Twitter bullies.

JAMES Mitchinson’s comment shines a light upon the honesty of our politicians. To my mind he simply crystallises all that we, the electorate, feel is wrong with “modern” government.

Should Tory MPs from Yorkshire be doing more to challenge Boris Johnaon over the Government's pandemic strategy?Should Tory MPs from Yorkshire be doing more to challenge Boris Johnaon over the Government's pandemic strategy?

None of them will give you an honest answer, no matter what the subject is. All they will do is vacillate and offload their responsibilities to others if they can. As the editor, he could have written a much more derogatory article but chose not to.

Perhaps he would like to turn his spotlight on the other subjects I have to admit ignoring due to boredom and ennui such as “levelling up” and “the Northern Powerhouse”, not to mention devolution of powers to regional Yorkshire, wherever that may be. James should ensure his article is reprinted in The Yorkshire Post’s associated publications.

From: Lee R Holmes, chairman, South Tees Conservatives.

WE are in a global emergency and national crisis and for a serious regional newspaper such as The Yorkshire Post to create a false impression of what is happening is reprehensible. This Yorkshireman is disgusted by the behaviour of our “national newspaper”. Yorkshire deserves better.

From: Phyllis Capstick, Hellifield.

MPs do not care about anyone. All they care about is themselves, and their way of life, at taxpayers’ expense.
