Violence flares around world and worse may be ahead

From: Beryl Williams, Ash Glade, Wakefield.

THE fact that a brand new doll was strategically placed atop the smouldering blackened wreckage of the crashed Malaysian airlines plane in Ukraine, as photographed in The Yorkshire Post, tells us two things. International media think they’ve now succeeded in dumbing us all down into idiocy, and they are probably right; and America wants its gas war, and they’re about to use this event to get it.

THROUGHOUT history, unfortunately violence has prevailed in the world, more often than not perpetrated by our male species. Perhaps it is time now for women all over the globe to stand up and unite against this continual violence. Enough is enough.

Regarding the lack of commitment to bring Tony Blair to justice for war crimes, it can be summed up in the words of legitimate wartime leader Winston Churchill who said: “I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.”

I WAS in the Army in 1947/48. We occupied Palestine, then turned it over to Israel giving them the mandate. Later in 1967 the Israelis had taken most of their land, so there’s more to it than meets the political eye. It is the fourth largest military nation on Earth. They are now massacring the civilian population. Why are they so powerful yet the Palestinians have nothing?

From: Barry Cundill, Compton Drive, Keyingham.

I WAS disappointed with your Editorial (The Yorkshire Post, July 24) on the tweet posted by David Ward MP on Gaza. The British people have never liked a bully. The humiliation of the Palestinians pushes them to desperation and Israel’s response is to grind them down more. Social media is buzzing with anti-Israel sentiment. This is not anti-Semitic, it is anti-bully.

I SUGGEST the Liberal Democrat MP David Ward MP goes to the Israeli/Palestine border on the Israeli side and see how he feels when rockets are raining down on him at a rate greater than bombs in World War Two. Or, better still, he just shuts up.
