THE chief executive and leader
of Bradford Council made the case for Bradford not to be left off the tracks regarding the proposed Northern Powerhouse Rail (The Yorkshire Post, January 22).

Of course, a city the size of Bradford should not be excluded, should it ever become more than simply Westminster waffle.

The reason it could is because those in power are ignorant of Bradford’s real issues and incapable of confronting them. If we were a school, Ofsted would have placed us in special measures a long time ago.

Bradford city centre.Bradford city centre.
Bradford city centre.

If only we had leaders capable of making our case.

From: Bob Watson, Baildon.

A GOVERNMENT planning inspector has ruled that a cafe created out of a shipping container can remain, despite it being branded as an ‘‘eyesore’’, and initially being refused by Bradford Council (The Yorkshire Post, January 20).

There are many people in Bradford who consider the city to be a dump, and this sort of approval will simply add to that view. One has to wonder whether such a development would be accepted in any adjacent and more successful cities?

We can only sadly watch on as our once wonderful city continues to be dragged downhill.
