Palace guard’s changing headgear

A Sikh soldier has became the first guardsman to parade outside Buckingham Palace wearing a turban instead of the famous bearskin.

Jatenderpal Singh Bhullar, 25, from West Bromwich, is the first guardsman in 180 years to choose to wear his turban on the famous forecourt. Sikhs in the Household Division have guarded the Queen many times before, but have always worn the bearskin. The Scots Guardsman previously said being the first Sikh to mount guard in a turban would be the “best thing” in his life.
