Paris here we come

staff and pupils at a West Yorkshire school are in training for the Paris Half Marathon next month.

The four members of staff and four 18-year-olds from St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School in Featherstone – from left, Leigh Wright, Monika Polak, Alison Richards, Lee Dawson, Damian Chubb, Eve Bontoft, Musonda Chola and Valentine Nguhi – are raising money for Oakfield Park Special School in Ackworth and other charities. Only three of the team have completed half marathons before.

Staff member Mr Chubb said: “We leave Wakefield at 6.22am on Saturday March 5, run on the morning of the Sunday and get back at 8.38pm, ready to be back in school on the Monday morning.” He said team members had been training since September and year 13 students had been heavily involved in the organisation. picture: Jonathan Gawthorpe

Other charities to benefit include Martin House Hospice near Wetherby and UNICEF.
