Park arts event proves a big draw for half-term children

ARTISTIC children were making mosaics during a crafts session at Clumber Park yesterday as part of the National Trust property’s schedule of events which is taking place over the school half-term holidays.

Members of the Retford Sure Start group were on hand to help the youngsters and also preview two giant mosaics that have already been created, which will be installed in Clumber’s new Discovery Centre due to open this spring.

A variety of other events are also being held at Clumber Park throughout the school holidays.

A National Trust spokesman said: “If you want to have fun den building in the woodlands then meet Terry Tree at the conservation centre at 1pm or 3pm every day, to make your very own secret hideaway.

“If you’re feeling a little bit more energetic then why not pop into our cycle hire centre for a cycle treasure hunt or simply rent a bike and explore more than 20 miles of dedicated cycle network.

“You can also let off steam in the woodland play park and tackle the giant spider’s web.

“Alternatively, hop on board for a tractor and trailer ride through some of Clumber’s beautiful scenery, learning more about the park along the way.

“If you’re out and about on Saturday or Sunday, sample the delights of our outdoor barbecue.”
