Penguins follow PM's lead

If it is good enough for the Prime Minister's daughter, it is good enough for a pair of newborn penguin chicks.

After David Cameron chose to name his daughter Endellion – after the north Cornish village near where his wife Samantha went into labour – keepers at London Zoo decided to take up the idea, so the latest arrivals have been called Primrose and Regents.

The African black-footed chicks, born to the same parents, are named after local London landmarks Primrose Hill and Regent's Park.

The youngsters, who have yet to develop the striking black and white markings of adult penguins, arrived within days of each other.

Primrose, the larger of the two, hatched on Wednesday last week followed by Regents on Saturday.
