Pensioner seriously injured in Wakefield collision

AN 83-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Pinderfields Hospital after he was involved in a collision with a car in Wakefield.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which involved a Toyota Hiace car and the pedestrian in Union Street on Sunday, to contact them.

The incident happened around 4pm, when the Toyota was reversing.

Police Constable Dave Laybourne, from West Yorkshire Police Safer Roads Unit, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone in the area on Sunday afternoon who may have seen the vehicle or the pedestrian prior to the incident or who may have witnessed the collision itself to come forward. Enquiries are ongoing.”
