People can bid for official Tour de France bunting and banners that adorned Skipton during this year’s Yorkshire Grand Depart. Craven Council is auctioning off the memorabilia to raise money for Lupus UK, the chairman of the council’s nominated charity. Twelve Tour de France lamppost banners and 50 bundles of the iconic yellow, green, polka dot and Union Jack bunting are now up for auction. Craven Council chairman Councillor Linda Brockbank said: “We’ve had a lot of interest in the banners and bunting and wanted to give people, businesses and organisations a fair opportunity to obtain these souvenirs. Personally, I am thrilled that all money raised will go to the very deserving charity Lupus UK and look forward to receiving the bids. Systemic lupus is a chronic and presently incurable illness of the immune system.”
