Chemical plant at Low Moor to carry out test-sounding of emergency siren

West Yorkshire residents have been told they may hear a siren next week.

Solenis at Low Moor, Cleckheaton will carry out a test-sounding of its off-site emergency siren at 10am and at 8pm on Thursday December 3.

The siren, which produces a sound of increasing and decreasing pitch, will operate for one minute on each occasion, a spokesman for the site confirmed.

The emergency services have been informed of the test sounding of the siren.

Residents living within the Public Information Zone around the Solenis site at Low Moor have received a leaflet giving details of this test in July 2017.

However, if they are new to the area - or have lost the leaflet and would like a copy - residents have been asked to contact Solenis.

The test sounding is being carried out as part of the company’s obligations under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 2015 (COMAH Regulations).
