From British film legends, to pop royalty and TV stars part of the Marvel Universe, Doctor Who and Stranger Things, the people of Yorkshire have accomplished a lot.
Here are 13 famous faces you may not have realised were born in Yorkshire
5. Matthew Lewsi
One for the Harry Potter fans! The actor who played Neville Longbottom was born in Leeds. Matthew Lewis, now aged 32, was raised in Horsforth and went to St Mary's Menston Catholic Voluntary Academy. He received worldwide recognition for playing the young wizard and since then he has started in Kay Mellor's The Syndicate, Me Before You and most recently in the revival of All Creatures Great and Small.
6. Sir Patrick Stewart
Another British actor with a career spanning decades, Sir Patrick Stewart was born in Mirfield, Kirklees. The stage and screen actor attended Crowlees Church of England Junior and Infants School and attributes his acting career to his English teacher there. He left school at 15 and for a while worked at the Mirfield & District Reporter before receiving a grant to attend the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
7. Michael Palin
Monty Python's Michael Palin was born in Sheffield. Sir Michael was born in the Ranmoor neighbourhood and was educated at independent schools, Birkdale and Shrewsbury School. He went on to read modern history at Brasenose College, Oxford before moving into television. He has also written several travel books, diaries and a non-fiction book Erebus: The Story of a Ship. 8. Ed Sheeran
The pop superstar Ed Sheeran was born in Halifax. The Shape of You singer spent his early childhood years in Hebden Bridge and his father worked as a curator at Cartwright Hall in Bradford. The family later moved to Framlingham in Suffolk.
