From British film legends, to pop royalty and TV stars part of the Marvel Universe, Doctor Who and Stranger Things, the people of Yorkshire have accomplished a lot.

9. Elizabeth Henstridge
A familiar face to the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, Elizabeth Henstridge was born in Sheffield in 1987. She went to Meadowhead School and King Edward VII School before becoming an actress. 10. Jodie Whittaker
The thirteenth Doctor Who was born in Skelmanthorpe, near Huddersfield. She went to Scissett Middle School and Shelley High School before moving to London for drama school. Whittaker now aged 39, is a familiar face on British TV screens and is known for her roles in Broadchurch, Black Mirror and films Adult Life Skills and Journeyman.
11. Sir Tom Courtenay
Another one of the nation's favourite actors is Sir Thomas Courtenay. Sir Thomas, now aged 85, was born in Hull in 1937 and attended Kingston High School. He was the son of boat painter who worked in the Hull fish docks. His work has been critically acclaimed and his notable roles include Doctor Zhivago, Billy Liar and more recently, he is set to appear in The Railway Children Return.
12. Kimberley Walsh
Another Bradford-born popstar is Girls Aloud's Kimberly Walsh. She was born in the West Yorkshire city in 1981 and has three siblings, including Emmerdale actresses Amy and Sally Walsh. Walsh attended Stage 84 and won Popstars: The Rivals to secure a place in Girls Aloud. The band achieved seven certified albums and went on hiatus in 2009.
