Valuation manager Dion Harrison said: “It has caused a fair amount of interest already and we feel sure it will spark a few more bids up until the deadline on Wednesday.

"It is a beautiful car and it has been very well restored. Older vehicles do seem to cause interest.”

The red and black vehicle was built and registered in 1924. What happened to it over the years is not known. But it was bought by a previous owner who restored the vehicle over a 25-year period to a very high standard. The car comes with a large file of paperwork and photographs detailing the work done.

Buick was founded in 1899 in the United States and became part of the General Motors group.

Started by automotive pioneer David Dunbar Buick, Buick was among the first major American marques of automobiles, and was a founder members of the General Motors group in 1908.

In the American market, Buick was mostly marketed as a premium automobile brand, selling luxury vehicles positioned above GM's mainstream brands, but below the flagship luxury Cadillac division.

Buicks are still made and sold. The main market is now China, where 80 per cent of Buick-branded automobiles are sold.
