Loyal Murgatroyds fryer celebrates 30 years working at the popular Yorkshire fish and chip shop often voted 'best chippy in Yorkshire'
Open since 1994, Murgatroyds is beloved throughout Yeadon and beyond. Its frying and kitchen manager, Rob Taylor, celebrated his 30 year work anniversary this week.
Starting as a pot washer aged 18, Mr Taylor has worked his way through every position at the Leeds fish and chip restaurant.

Hide AdHe has been in managerial roles for over 26 years and has now taken a step back from front of house to move into a senior fryers role. He works alongside his son Nicolas.


Colleague Laura Macfarlane said: “Rob is an asset to the team. He’s a big joker and always knows how to raise a laugh from the team”.
A mainstay at the chippy, Laura said is so well known from his role at Murgatroyds that he gets spotted across the globe.
She said: “There have been quite a few times where he was on holiday and been spotted by customers. He has been on the beach and people have come up to him and said 'oh hi are you Rob from Murgatroyds?'"

Hide AdRob’s colleagues would describe him as “very committed, very hard working and very level-headed”.


As well as his full-time graft at the chippy, Rob also works as a landscape gardener and enjoys maintaining the gardens and the planters over at Murgatroyds. Another hobby of Rob’s is collecting wine from the year he was born.
He has received almost a hundred congratulatory comments on Murgatroyd’s Facebook post on Facebook thanking Rob for a fabulous 30 years of hard work.
