Major power cut in Selby as thousands of homes left without electricity
Thousands of homes across Yorkshire have been left without power due to a major power cut, Northern Powergrid has said.

More than 2,500 properties in the YO8 area, which covers Selby, are affected by the powercut, the energy firm said.
A statement said: “Powercut in YO8 affecting 2550 customers. Team Powergrid are working hard to restore power and estimate to have all customers restored by 9:15 am.”
On the Northern Powergrid website, it says the power cut has been caused by “an unexpected problem with the cables or equipment”.
