Man, 35, killed in Yorkshire crash had already lost father and brother in road collisions

A 35-year-old man killed in a crash in Bradford at the weekend has been named by friends and family.

Nicholas ‘Nicky’ Tidswell, from Holme Wood, was the sole passenger in a Kia Sorento when the SUV collided with street furniture and overturned on a bend on Mayo Avenue in Bradford in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Mr Tidswell is the third member of his immediate family to die in a road traffic accident in 20 years.

In 2003 his brother Antony, then 18, was killed when a motorbike he was riding crashed in Dewsbury. The teenager left a partner and two baby sons.

In 2006 their father Ian, then 42, was killed when he was impaled on a scaffolding pole after his car crashed through a fence in East Bierley. He worked as a process controller at the Federal Mogul plant in Bradford. He left wife Michelle, daughter Jodie – who both worked at the factory with him – and Nicky, who was 18.
