"Sue, you're shouting at tea.""Sue, you're shouting at tea."
"Sue, you're shouting at tea."

Taking aim at those over the Pennines, West Yorkshire Police joked: "Just to confirm, shouting at tea is not a crime, but drinking Lancashire tea over Yorkshire tea is a bit of a grey area."

The cheeky comment follows a now viral tweet sent by Yorkshire Tea in response to a woman named Sue, who was arguing with the company over Chancellor Rishi Sunak being pictured with a bag of the brand's tea.

Mr Sunak, who is the MP for Richmond, had posted about his love of a classic Yorkshire Tea cuppa on Friday but was met with huge backlash. The Harrogate-based company said that it had dealt with unnecessarily angry phone calls and messages since the post, and asked people to "remember there is a human on the other end".

However, Sue continued to send criticism to the company via Twitter.

Finally, the social media manager responsible for Yorkshire Tea said: "Sue, you're shouting at tea. Please do look after yourself and try to be kind to others. We're going to mute you now."

Sue has since deleted her tweets.

The response has now got more than 45,500 'likes' and just under 8,000 retweets.

Some social media are already calling it the "quote of the year" and others have called for it to be put on a t-shirt.
