Residents on Marshall Mews at Castleford are lobbying for measures to be put in place to stop travellers using the Castlefield car park after a group set up camp there.

The travellers moved on last night after up to 20 caravans parked up on the car park for 18 days, leaving behind piles of rubbish in their wake.

One resident, Adele Sims said: "They have parked up on the car park a number of times so we are asking the council to erect bollards to stop it from happening again."

A number of people living close by lodged complaints with the police and the council claiming homes and cars had been damaged and also that human waste had been left at the site.
