The former BBC Breakfast host agreed to film episodes of the programme from her home in Harrogate during the coronavirus crisis in order to focus on positive and uplifting human interest stories.

The Steph Show was originally due to be broadcast from the channel's new studios at Leeds Dock before access was withdrawn due to social distancing restrictions.

McGovern, 37, has now confirmed on Twitter that the May 7 edition of the programme will be the last as it has been suspended indefinitely until the lockdown is lifted.

The filming was believed to have caused logistical difficulties, as some of McGovern's neighbours had raised concerns about vehicles and staff arriving at the property.

McGovern and her partner also live with their baby daughter, who was born in November.

She Tweeted: "As much as I’ve loved doing a lockdown show at home, I never expected it to go on this long. We’ve decided it’s time to have a break and give my family our home back. The proper programme will be launching when the Leeds studio is sorted. I may still be wearing slippers!

"The last locked-down version of The Steph Show will be next Thursday, May 7. Then the plan is to launch again at our fancy studios at Leeds Docks in a couple of months, once they’re safely up and running."
