Viral photograph as three West Yorkshire men praised for stopping traffic to allow ducklings to cross busy road

Three men in West Yorkshire have been praised for stopping traffic in Castleford - to allow a duck and her ducklings to cross the road.

The men were spotted by Richard Lickley on Aire Street at around 12.30pm today in Castleford.

Richard told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "The three lads pictured stopped traffic to assist the ducks.

"One of the vehicles stopped was also a police van, so it was quite comical."

The men have been praised by local residents on social media for stopping the traffic - while also social distancing.

Hundreds took to Facebook to offer their praise.

One said: "Brilliant to see. Three lads with a lot of brains!"

Another added: "What a wonderful picture. Everything is great about it, from the ducklings to the quick-thinking of the lads."
