MAR 1 - THE MERRY WIVES: The Bard at his lightest and funniest as John Falstaff tries to reverse his fortunes by seducing a couple of well-to-do wives. Viaduct Theatre, Halifax (01422 255266, deanclough.com) to March 5 (also touring to Hull, Leeds, Scarborough, Huddersfield and York).

Mar 9 - Gangsta Granny: The world stage premiere of David Walliams’s story comes to Sheffield Lyceum (0114 249 6000, sheffieldtheatres.co.uk) next month, running to March 12. The production can also be seen at Bradford Alhambra in July.

May 10 - The 39 Steps: If you haven’t seen the stage production of the Hitchcock classic you should. The show, which follows the adventures of hero Richard Hannay and his stiff upper lip, returns to the West Yorkshire Playhouse (0113 213 7700, wyp.org.uk).

May 14 - Travis: It’s a few years since they were regulars in the charts, but Travis are back with a new album. At Leeds 02 Academy (0113 389 1555, O2academymusicgroup.com), Fran Healy and co will be playing their latest material alongside some old favourites.

May 21 - Russell Watson: The best-selling crossover classical artist of all time returns to the live circuit with his new UK tour, Songs from the Heart, which will be stopping off at York Barbican (0844 854 2757, yorkbarbican.co.uk).
