Simonstone Hall, near Hawes, will open for NHS workers only on May 17, the first day it is allowed to trade again following the easing of lockdown.

Bookings must be for nominated front-line doctors and nurses, who will receive a free night's accommodation and breakfast at the newly-renovated four-star hotel, which also has a fine dining restaurant.

The decision has been made partly to honour Simonstone Hall's past links with the medical profession in times of national crisis - the 17th-century hall was requisitioned as a hospital during World War Two.

The estate also appeared in the original BBC series of All Creatures Great and Small - scenes from the fictional Darrowby Show were filmed there.

If you would like to nominate an NHS worker for a free stay at the hotel, email [email protected] with their name, role, working location, ID number, photograph and a short note explaining why they deserve it.

Social media nominations will not be accepted.
