Plans launched for £3m ‘Art Deco’ lifeboat station

Bridlington RNLI is set to move across the road to a new Art Deco-style building on Spa Promenade replacing the 1903 building on South Marine Drive, meaning they no longer have to hold up traffic and shaving as much as five minutes off launch times.
It will have the extra space needed to house the new Shannon class all-weather lifeboat, together with its launching vehicle, which will replace the current lifeboat by 2018,bringing all services under one roof.

“The old building has just been extensions added on over the years, with a very small training room, and no heating downstairs, just a couple of storage heaters,” he said. “Over the next three years it’s going to be a massive change, very exciting times: the start of the new boathouse and training for a new boat.”
