A 57-year-old pedestrian who died in an accident with a silver Peugeot 307 in North Yorkshire was named by police yesterday as Melville Robin Cook, known as Robin Cook.

The man from the Whitby area was fatally injured on the A171 near the roundabout with the A169 on the outskirts of the port shortly before midnight on Friday. An inquest was opened and adjourned yesterday.
