Police name tragic double death couple

Officers from Sussex Police found the body of Gillian Swinden, 70, at the bungalow she shared with husband John when they went to inform her of his death.

They forced entry into the semi-detached property in Horsham,West Sussex, through a kitchen door after becoming concerned when they could not reach Mrs Swinden.

Her 71-year-old husband died after jumping from a multi-storey car park at the Swan Walk shopping centre in Horsham, just before 10.30am on Saturday. A post mortem examination revealed Mrs Swinden had been strangled. An examination on Mr Swinden's body is to take place later this week.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths of the couple, believed to have recently moved home
