Police review case files after assault victim dies

AN ASSAULT victim has lost his fight for life 10 days after he was attacked and left critically injured.

Keith Wright died yesterday in Leeds General Infirmary, where he had been on a life-support machine after the attack in the Acomb district of York at about 7.40pm on Monday last week.

Two teenagers, aged 19 and 16, have already been arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm before Mr Wright’s death. North Yorkshire Police officers are working with the Crown Prosecution Service lawyers to re-examine the charges to establish if more serious charges of manslaughter or murder should be brought against the teenagers.

Det Insp Ian Dyer, of York CID, said: “Our thoughts are with Keith’s family who are naturally devastated by the terrible outcome at hospital. This is an extremely tragic incident and we are doing everything we can to support them as we work hard to secure justice for Keith.”
