Police slam vandals after pram is thrown at train

A PRAM and a bicycle were hurled at a moving train in Leeds in what police called an “incredibly irresponsible and dangerous” act of vandalism.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for information following the incident in Armley last week, which happened a day after youths were seen trespassing on the tracks.

Investigating officer Pc Steve Thackray said: “Throwing objects at trains is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous and could have resulted in a train driver being injured.”

The incident happened at 5pm on Thursday, May 16, as a York to Blackpool train service was travelling through the Armley Heights area. Almost exactly 24 hours earlier a driver reported seeing three youths on the line in the same area.

Pc Thackray said: “I cannot overstate just how dangerous trespassing on the railway is.”
