Police update: Three Leeds murders 'are not linked'

Three murders which have taken place in the city in less than three weeks are not linked, police have said today.

The separate killings of 19-year-old Raheem Wilks, teenager Irfan Wahid and a man who is yet to be named all happened in the Harehills area of Leeds.

Mr Wilks, the younger brother of Leeds United player Mallik Wilks, was shot outside a barber's shop in Gathorne Terrace on January 26 and died later in hospital.

Two men have been charged with his murder and another 10 people have been questioned in connection with his death.

On Friday afternoon, 16-year-old Irfan was stabbed in Harehills Lane and died a short time later in hospital.

And yesterday detectives began an investigation into the death of a man at a house in Bexley Mount.

Detectives are continuing to question suspects arrested in connection with the latest two incidents.

But police have said it is already clear that none of the three murders were connected.

A spokesman said they could "categorically" state that there was no link between any of the ongoing investigations.
