Policeman’s fund raises £14,000

A FUND set up to support the two young children of a police officer who died in a road crash has raised more than £14,000 in only a month since its launch.

The North Yorkshire Police Federation unveiled the fund on January 15 in memory of PC Andrew Bramma to provide financial support to his sons, Jack, aged three, and 11-month-old Sam, whose first birthday will be this month. PC Bramma, 32, of Pudsey, Leeds, died after his police van hit a tree in West Tanfield, near Ripon, while responding to a road accident on January 5.

The North Yorkshire Police Federation’s deputy secretary, Sgt Mike Stubbs, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has donated so far – Andrew’s wife, Kathryn, has been overwhelmed by the level of support.”

Officers in Harrogate and Ripon have collected more than £1,000, and PC Bramma’s former colleagues from Greater Manchester Police, where he worked before transferring to North Yorkshire, are also planning fundraising events.
