Choosing Miliband ‘doomed Labour’ - Sugar

The Apprentice star and peer, who quit the party after their general election defeat in May, said the public did not like Mr Miliband’s “demeanour”.

The 68-year-old entrepreneur also criticised Labour under new leader Jeremy Corbyn for being “anti-business” and “antiquated”. He told The Mail On Sunday’s Event magazine: “We were doomed from the moment Ed Miliband was elected. The public did not like him - they did not like his demeanour, the way he spoke, the way he ate his bacon sandwiches.

“He was not a leader. Had his brother David been elected leader I think the Labour party would be in power today.”

Lord Sugar, who was appointed an “enterprise champion” by Labour in 2009 and continues to serve as an independent crossbench peer, refused to rule out a return to the party but said they must “sort themselves out”.
