Holly Willoughby influences mothers’ election votes - survey

HOLLY Willoughby, Jamie Oliver and Lorraine Kelly have emerged as unlikely influential voices in the General Election campaign.

The three were identified as public figures mothers want to hear from during the election campaign in a survey by Yorkshire-based supermarket chain Asda.

Phillip Schofield, Janet Street-Porter and Russell Brand were also named as big influencers in the survey of 13,000 mothers.

Eight out of ten mothers who took part said they intended to vote in the election and two-thirds remain open to shifting their support to a different party.

The majority of mothers said they were not impressed by any political leader in 2014. and those who expressed a preference, David Cameron and Nigel Farage were equal first with SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon third.

The NHS, the cost of living and education were ranked as the most important issues by respondents to the survey with more flexibility on doctors’ appointments, flexible working and smaller class sizes the policies that would most likely win their vote.

In the North of England, 47 per cent said they feel “disconnected” from Westminster.
