Assurances have been given that the Budget will go ahead on March 11 as planned.

Jacob Rees-Mogg told MPs the provisional business for the week beginning March 9 includes the Budget statement from new Chancellor and Richmond MP Rishi Sunak on the Wednesday.

Doubts had been raised about the timing of the Budget following Sajid Javid's shock departure from the Treasury during this month's ministerial reshuffle.
