Parties select candidates in Morley, Wakefield, Keighley, Leeds, Penistone and Stocksbridge
Mr Calvert, who contested the seat for the Conservatives in 2015, said: “I will be working hard to promote our area and bring in jobs and investment and to finally secure a new community stadium.”
Labour has selected Morley councillor Neil Dawson to try and win back the Morley and Outwood seat it lost to the Conservatives in 2015.
Andrea Jenkyns took the seat from then shadow chancellor Ed Balls in one of the biggest surprises of the last election.
Coun Dawson said: “I’ve lived in Morley for 33 years, my whole life is here. I know its people and I care about them.
“I’ve worked hard for many years to bring investment to the area and to make life better for everyone who lives here and, if I’m elected, I’ll continue to be a dedicated, hard-working and visible representative.”
Former Selby MP John Grogan will be Labour’s candidate in Keighley, currently represented by the Conservatives’ Kris Hopkins.
Leeds Labour councillor Alex Sobel will contest the Leeds North West seat held by Liberal Democrat Greg Mulholland with a majority of 2,907.
Coun Sobel said: “I hear daily about the concerns of people in North West Leeds, and am already representing the interests of individuals and communities locally.”
