York Council opposition groups offered cabinet seats
In his first move since being elected Labour leader on Saturday, Dafydd Williams offered the posts which would allow the leaders of the Liberal Democrat and Conservative groups the chance to speak and vote on every item of cabinet business.
Coun Williams said: “I am determined to lead the charge to change the way we conduct our politics in York. Members of other parties have often told me that the cabinet system denies them a voice. My proposal helps to give them a meaningful voice, without any need for back room deals.
