I WON’T say the EU is corrupt, but its auditors won’t sign off
the accounts.

It is hugely wasteful, bureaucratic, authoritarian and arrogant because it is not answerable to an electorate.

Although my altruistic
young friends like the idea
of the EU, they concede that some things will have to change, but how many times have we heard that?

From: Ron Firth, Campsall.

IN response to Nick Clegg (The Yorkshire Post, June 2), I will not be alone in condemning the bulk of what he claims. Of course the figures quoted by Boris Johnson are the gross amounts we pay to the EU, but are no more to be derided than the quotes by the PM, Chancellor, IMF, CBI leaders etc that each household would be £4,300 worse off per annum.

From: Tom Colliver, Ripon.

PLEASE spare us from Boris Johnson as PM – he’s just in this for himself.

From: Phyllis Capstick, Skipton.

IT is the politicians who cannot be trusted, because most, if not all, are so self-serving. We have the common sense to see through all their lies and actions.

From: David Collins, Scissett.

BORIS Johnson was born in the USA. Nigel Farage’s ancestors arrived in one of the greatest migrations to hit England – 80,000 Huguenots arrived in England in the mid-17th century escaping religious persecution in France. When do immigrants stop being immigrants?

From: Ruthven Urquhart, High Hunsley, Cottingham.

WHETHER we stay or stray, one aspect of this “never-ending referendum” is indisputably certain. The outcome is impossible to predict.

I firmly believe that the existing “in” devil we know is preferable to the “out” devil.

From: WK Wilkinson, Birkenshaw.

IF the Remain vote wins, the EU can insist on all members of the EU trading in the same currency, namely the euro. We would lose the pound forever.

From: Brenda Williams, Birkenshaw, Bradford.

IT saddens me to think that there will be people voting to stay in the EU on June 23. In the Second World War we fought for our freedom against Nazi aggression.
