Poppy Appeal launched
Afghanistan war hero Ben Parkinson, from Doncaster, who lost both his legs and suffered head and spinal injuries in a blast in Helmand province four years ago, helps to launch the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Huddersfield yesterday.
The appeal is the main fundraiser to provide support for service personnel past and present. It spends more than 1m a week and is looking to raise 36m this year.
