Projects share £215,000 Lotto cash

COMMUNITY organisations across Yorkshire have been given a slice of £215,000 Lottery money to support their work.

The money comes from the Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme which offers grants between £300 and £10,000 to help groups, ranging from running bushcraft adventure clubs in Brigg (Back 2 Nature Outdoor Education and Training, £9,991) to recruiting advocates to give advice to Eastern European Romas in Sheffield (Pakistan Advice and Community Association, £7,200).

Others to benefit include Ilkley Film Festival, which will use £8,000 to buy a projector to use during the festival and for fortnightly films in a local theatre. In Bradford, £8,574 will be used to train 18 women from ethnic backgrounds to become “doulas”, who offer help, advice and emotional support to mothers before, during and after birth.
