Readers rally to ensure Leeds war veteran gets fitting send off
Yorkshire Post Newspapers issued a call for people to ensure that 92-year-old Stewart Cooney, who served as a gunner in the Second World War, is not laid to rest without well-wishers by his grave side.
Mr Cooney recently passed away at Colton Lodges Nursing Home in Leeds but fears soon emerged that he could face a lonely funeral as he has no family to mourn his death.
