Redundant Carcraft workers may take action

FORMER STAFF of car dealership Carcraft are looking to mount legal action against the business, solicitors said.

The firm’s 500 employees, including those at branches in Leeds and Sheffield, were immediately made redundant when Carcraft went into administration on April 30.

Carl Moran, employment law partner at JMW Solicitors, said former staff had contacted him to make a claim against the company.

He said anyone who is dismissed with little or no warning is entitled to up to 12 weeks’ notice pay, and as much as six weeks’ holiday pay.

“If they worked at a site with more than 20 employees, they can become part of a collective bargaining group and seek up to eight weeks’ pay as additional compensation,” Mr Moran said.

Administrators Grant Thornton said they were unable to comment on any details regarding specific creditor claims.
