Robbers who targeted pensioners in Leeds and Castleford are jailed


Leeds Crown Court heard Daniel Dickinson, 22, (pictured) and Christopher Kemp, 26, admitted robbing a 69-year-old woman in Temple Street, Castleford, just after 1.30pm on May 14.
The woman’s handbag was snatched from her shoulder as she walked along Temple Street.

Hide AdProsecutor, Mehran Nassiri said a witness saw the man who had taken the handbag being driven off in a maroon coloured car.
Mr Nassiri said the witness told police the vehicle looked like “Postman Pat’s.”
The court heard Dickinson and Kemp also admitted robbing a 70-year-old woman of her handbag as she walked alone on Holman Avenue at Garforth.
That robbery happened just over an hour after the robbery at Temple Street, Castleford.

Hide AdMr Nassiri said a third man, Cameron Miller, 19, admitted robbing a 68-year-old woman of her handbag as she walked across Millennium Bridge near Castleford town centre just after 11am on May 12.
Mr Nassiri said a maroon Daihatsu Grand Move car – which was owned by Dickinson – was spotted close to the scene of that robbery.
Dickinson, of no fixed abode admitted two charges of robbery and handling stolen goods.
Jailing Dickinson for 18 months, Recorder Martin Simpson told him: “You were out of work and chose to cash in on vulnerable elderly ladies.”

Hide AdKemp, of Love Lane, Castleford, was jailed for 15 months after he admitted two charges of robbery.
Miller, of Smeaton Approach, Swillington, admitted one charge of robbery.
Miller was handed a 12-month jail sentence, suspended for 12 months plus a 12-month community order.
