Seriously-injured woman airlifted to hospital in Leeds after road accident

A woman has been airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary for emergency treatment after being hit by a car in Boston Spa.

The woman was struck by the Toyota Auris near the Stew & Oyster restaurant on the A659 High Street at about 3.15pm today.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police told the Yorkshire Evening Post that she had suffered “serious” injuries in the incident.

The car is believed to have hit the woman after mounting the pavement.

Motorists are being advised to avoid High Street as investigations continue into the incident.
