Matthew Daniel Fisher, 36, is accused of an attempted rape and sexual assaults against three women. At the first day of the hearing at Hull Crown Court yesterday the suspended North Yorkshire Police officer pleaded guilty to two counts of misconduct in public office.

The court heard that while on duty in early 2011, he had consensual sex at a woman’s home, and Fisher also admitted having consensual sex with another woman in his police van parked near a bus station in November 2011.

The first occasion, on New Year’s Day 2011, the court heard Fisher pulled up in his police van and offered a woman a lift home, which she agreed to.

Prosecutor Simon Whaley said: “Fisher used a computer based system to acquire the woman’s personal details. On the night in question, they were talking in a flirtatious way, and she gave him her number. Using his police radio, he arranged consensual sexual activity at her home one to two weeks later.”

The prosecutor said that in November 2011, Fisher met a woman in a supermarket in Selby, and is alleged to have obtained her contact and car details through police computer systems.

“Later that month, on November 26, he had arranged consensual sexual activity and that took place in his police van after he parked it near Selby bus station,” Mr Whaley said.

The court heard how Fisher, who is suspended from duty, is alleged to have used police national computers to check women’s contact and car details, a further misconduct charge which he denies.

The prosecutor said that on one occasion Fisher was called to a house party and told the occupants to turn their music down. He allegedly offered a woman a lift home from the party in his police car and when in the car, it is alleged he grabbed her hand and pressed it over his genitals.

The jury heard another occasion involved Fisher being sent to a house after reports that a woman’s partner had assaulted her. He asked to use the bathroom and then tried to engage her in oral sex.

The third alleged sex assault complainant had been involved in a minor road traffic accident and on one of his visits to her home Fisher is said to have pulled down her top.

With the same woman, the court heard, he visited her home when she was applying make-up and put her hand on his groin. This was alleged to have been seen by the woman’s daughter.

Fisher denies one count of misconduct in a public office by using police computers and databases.

Fisher also denies four counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape.

The trial continues.
