Sheffield scientist wins first award for inspiration

A SCIENTIST and researcher from Sheffield has been named as one of the UK’s 50 most inspirational women in healthcare.

Professor Wendy Tindale, scientific director at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has been honoured by the Health Service Journal’s inaugural Inspirational Women awards.

She was nominated for her work leading the “Devices for Dignity” programme which helps people with long-term illnesses.

Prof Tindale said yesterday that the accolade was “humbling.”

She added: “I have been inspired by so many women during my career so it’s wonderful to think that I might have been able to help others to be inspired in their chosen field.”
