Shopping centre jobs available soon

Wakefield Council last night welcomed the news that the first jobs in the city's Trinity Walk shopping centre will soon be advertised.

Around 250 vacancies will initially be on offer for Sainsbury's and Debenhams, which are two of the major high street stores in the centre.

Council deputy leader Coun Denise Jeffery said: "We are delighted that Trinity Walk is moving forward with 250 jobs already being created."

She added: "The development is really going to breathe new life into our economy by creating jobs."

Wakefield Council and its partners Jobcentre Plus and Training Providers are working with the employers to provide bespoke training packages for local unemployed people interested in working in retail.

Vacancies will be advertised in the coming months via the Jobcentre Plus website www.direct.gov.uk.

The shopping centre is due to open in spring next year.
