Stab victim ‘loving father’ says family

A 37-year-old man found stabbed to death at a flat in Brighton was described by his family yesterday as a “loving father who idolised his children”.

A man appeared in court charged with murder.

Graham Pethard, from Liverpool, was found seriously injured in a flat in Taunton Road, Brighton, East Sussex, on Saturday morning and died at the scene.

Police believe he had been attacked with a six-inch kitchen knife.

Carlo Dawes, 34, of Taunton Road, was remanded into custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court to reappear at Lewes Crown Court tomorrow.

Mr Pethard family said in a statement: “Graham was a loving father who idolised his children. He was also a father figure to his friends and all who ever knew him.”

He leaves four daughters.
