Romanian Christian-Adrian Lascu, of Grimsby, was later jailed for 13 years for attacking a woman as she walked home from Cleethorpes town centre and raping her in an alleyway as another man held her down. But his suspected accomplice, who is also Romanian, fled abroad and remains wanted, Humberside Police said yesterday.Det Con Davies had volunteered to review CCTV recovered from businesses along the woman’s route home but failed to spot key footage of her with two suspects.Although the footage was not of high enough quality to identify either man, it could have led to further lines of inquiry if police had known of it earlier in the investigation, a misconduct panel was told.Detective Superintendent Matt Baldwin welcomed the panel’s decision to dismiss Det Con Davies, saying: “Providing the best possible service to victims is at the heart of everything we do and the actions of Mr Davies fell well below that standard. “There was also the potential for serious repercussions and that is why matters of this nature are always taken extremely seriously.”Two further misconduct allegations against Det Con Davies were dismissed.
