His colleague Simon Hulme was shortlisted in the same category.

The Yorkshire Post Editor Jeremy Clifford said: “We have a great team at The Yorkshire Post and I am delighted with the team award.

“A lot of time, effort and excellent journalism went into our coverage of this important event and it is good news that it has been recognised at such an important awards ceremony.

“I am delighted, too, for James and Simon who consistently produce excellent images.

“For both to be shortlisted was a triumph.

“In my view, they are both winners.”

The Yorkshire Post had eight shortlisted entries in this
year’s O2 Media Awards for Yorkshire and The Humber, which were presented at York Racecourse.

More than 300 entries were received for the awards.

Nicola Green, director of communications and reputation at O2 UK, said: “With record numbers of entries his year the panel found it even harder to select the shortlists.”

She said the presentation evening was a celebration of ‘some superb journalism and a reminder of how important the regional media is to local communities’.
