A teenage boy is due in court over Twitter threats to a singer ahead of a gig in South Yorkshire.

The 15-year-old, from West Yorkshire, is alleged to have threatened an America singer on social media over the weekend.

An investigation was launched by South Yorkshire Police and a court summons was issued.

Chief Inspector Lydia Lynskey said: “We will always investigate any incident reported to us, and I would urge people to please consider what they post on social media, as while it may only be meant in jest, it could cause serious distress or alarm to a number of people.”
