Tens of thousands of pounds of Class A drugs seized in Castleford

Tens of thousands of pounds of suspected Class A drugs have been seized by police.

Officers made the initial discovery after stopping a van on Westfields, Castleford, at around 2pm on Monday.

A substantial amount of suspected drugs was found in the vehicle and a 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Later that day, police searched a house on Westfields and discovered a large amount of suspected Class B drugs and money.

A 45-year-old woman from Castleford and a 45-year-old man from Leeds were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. All three people have now been bailed.

Det Insp David Rogerson, of Wakefield CID, said: “We are continuing enquiries after officers recovered significant amounts of what are suspected to be Class A drugs from a van and a house following an intelligence led operation.

“Taking drugs off our streets continues to be a priority for the police.”
