She said her son had been left upset after saving up to buy himself the bike, which was a black BMX with chrome handle bars and pedals.

She added: "If your son brings a bike home with him then please think of my boy crying his eyes out after saving over £200 of birthday and Christmas money to buy it.

"If that was my lad I'd be disgusted."

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating after a teenager had his bike stolen by a group of four people in Concord Park, Sheffield.

"The incident happened at about 4.30pm on Sunday, May 7 when the offenders reportedly stole a black BMX bike from the boy.

"No one was injured during the incident."

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
